Dynamo the TV magician has reflected on his difficult start and life and how it led to success.

The inspiring star’s comments follow fresh hardship in the form of a recent positive coronavirus diagnosis.

Speaking to The Mirror, Dynamo said: ‘Where I grew up, the estate was notorious and rough.

‘There was more chance I’d end up in jail like my father than being a magician and performing at council estates to royal estates.

‘If you look at Amy Winehouse, a lot of her greatness came from the negative things she had been through.

Eminem’s best work came because he was an angry young man who hated the world and the cards he’d been dealt.

‘But he took it, and made something phenomenal.’

Dynamo further explained: ‘Some of my greatest triumphs have come from dark places. My whole outlook on life came from not having a father figure – someone to guide me. I had to take my own path.’

The TV personality has previously said that his coronavirus symptoms were ‘quite severe’, but that he is over the worst of the condition.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk last week, the star said he is dedicating his new Sky show Beyond Belief to the NHS.

‘I think that in the show you also see the incredible support that I have from the NHS who help get me back to my health,’ he said.

‘The NHS did such an amazing job… These are the unsung heroes who are really creating magic out there and right now, I think the whole nation is appreciating what they’re doing.’
