Aisling Bea has revealed that this year’s Bafta nominees have had to pre-record their winners speeches for the virtual ceremony.

Well, that’s pretty awkward if you don’t win, right?

The comedienne is nominated for her work on This Way Up, a sitcom which she wrote, created and starred in.

Appearing on Peter Crouch’s Save Our Summer tonight, Aisling lifted the curtain on how the Bafta’s are running this year, since coronavirus meant the usual live, televised ceremony has had to be changed.

‘I’m absolutely over the moon [to be nominated],’ she told Maya Jama, ‘but the weird thing is because it’s virtual, we don’t get a big old ceremony.

‘Everyone whose nominated has to pre-record an acceptance speech. So, we all have to go “Oh my God, thank you so much,” without know if we’ve actually won or not.’

You know what they say, times must and all that, right?

We’ve got our fingers crossed for you anyway, hun.

It was announce earlier this year that the Bafta TV awards will be presented by The IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade in a ‘closed door’ capacity, with celeb’s beaming in virtually.

Nominees up for gongs this year include Fleabag, Gavin and Stacey and Love Island.

Peter Crouch’s Save Our Summer airs Saturdays from 9.15pm on BBC One.
