Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss has been pictured for the first time in months after receiving treatment for his drug addiction, and is said to be ‘thriving’ at a sober-living facility.

The 41-year-old actor, best known for playing Greg Goldberg in the classic 1992 movie, was arrested in January for burglary before being ordered to receive treatment for meth addiction at a rehab clinic.

It seems Shaun took to the treatment well and has now celebrated more than 170 days of being sober.

His friend Drew Gallagher started a GoFundMe page in January to help Shaun who was homeless and recently shared updates on the former child star’s wellbeing.

‘Shaun is doing AMAZING!!! Same place same treatment and he is advancing as best as we could hope for. Yes, it’s a long road with many stages and milestones. Today, we celebrate this milestone of 4 months of sobriety and growth!’ Drew wrote on 15 June.

He added two weeks later: ‘Shaun just finished his in-patient rehab and Is now checked into sober-living and outpatient treatment! This is a big step and I’m thankful for Armen at Quest 2 Recovery and Natanya Ross for all the help thus far.

‘We need to raise more funds for Shauns ongoing sober-living but other than that Weiss is in great spirits! I could tell he is a bit nervous entering this new chapter of treatment but he certainly seem healthier than ever and very determined! [sic].’

Drew then shared a photo of Shaun looking happy and healthy with a mask hanging off his face, while revealing that his recovery is continuing to progress well.

‘First lunch out in his new sober-living setup!’ Drew wrote, adding: ‘We need to raise more months rent for this place, but look at how he’s thriving! This new chapter is a bit scary for him but he looks and feels better than ever!’

According to the friend, Shaun’s ‘biggest need’ at the moment is a dentist as the former actor no longer has any teeth and is in ‘discomfort’.

Shaun’s personal life deteriorated in recent years due to drug abuse and legal issues.

In 2017, the actor had a charge of petty theft which landed the former star a 150-day jail sentence.

He was then released after 12 days as the prison was overcrowding but he was arrested again for possession of methamphetamine. The Hollywood star spent 90 days in prison.

In 2018, he was arrested again for public intoxication in Northern California and after returning from prison, Shaun promised to check himself into rehab.
