Woman Charged With Killing Man, Setting Woodland Hills Home Ablaze

A woman who allegedly confessed to killing her longtime companion, whose body was found in a Woodland Hills home that had been set on fire, was charged Thursday with murder and arson causing great bodily injury.

Darlene Denise Carlisle, 57, was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in a Van Nuys courtroom, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Carlisle allegedly approached officers Monday afternoon and told them she had set the fire at the one-story home in the 23200 block of West Victory Boulevard ablaze and killed the victim. She was taken into custody at the scene, and a knife was booked as evidence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The fire was reported just before 2:30 p.m. After extinguishing the flames, firefighters found “the remains of a male decedent with a severe injury to his throat” and notified police, the LAPD reported.

The defendant and victim were in a long-term relationship, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, according to the coroner’s office.
