Flesh Review: What’s The Story? And How’s The Screenplay?
We have watched a lot of Bollywood films about human trafficking, and Mardaani was one of the films which reached closest to the harsh reality. But Eros Now’s Flesh takes the topic to another level altogether. The 8-episode show takes you inside the dirty world and makes you feel the gut-wrenching reality.
There are two tracks in the story of Flesh. The first track is about a bunch of kids being caught up for child trafficking. In this track, a girl named Rajji along with her younger brother Raju tries to run away several times but never succeeds. And the second track is about a 16-year-old girl Zoya being kidnapped by her Instagram boyfriend who gives her away to human traffickers. How the two tracks connect with each other and its complexities make the whole storyline.
Pooja Ladha Surti’s screenplay takes both tracks and binds them in an efficient way. From the very start till the end it makes a very disturbing watch. Before starting watching it, be assured that there are innumerable triggers that are going to boil your blood. The paedophiles, the s*xual violence, murders, blood, gore, there’s so much that this show has to show. And even though all of this makes Flesh a tough watch, it’s a positive factor of the show only.
Flesh delivers more than what it promises because it makes you feel disgusted for what you are watching on screen. That triggers a sense of a shame and that’s what I believe was also the very idea of the writer.
Along with that, the screenplay is pretty gripping and tight. Even though you are ashamed to watch what you are watching, you always want to know what happens next. There are ample of twists that keep on giving you shocks. I loved the way, Flesh kept me involved even when I didn’t want to.
The suspense was partially predictable but a part of it also hit me hard like a brick. Flesh is a show which displays the agony of women when they are sold by their relatives to human traffickers. While it doesn’t let any chance go away to show that pain, I loved the way it portrayed its women characters in an extremely strong way. You are wrong if you think only Swara Bhasker’s character is the hero of the show because there are many. Loved to watch women fighting and taking revenge in an Indian show.

Flesh Review: How Are The Performances & Direction?
Swara Bhasker plays a character of different shades and she gives a very good performance. It was good to see her doing the action.
Akshay Oberoi is brilliant. This is, in fact, the best work of him, I’ve seen so far. He aces the character of a bisexual villain. The way he portrays his layered character with extreme confidence bowled me over.
Mahima Makwana is fine and so are Yudhishthir Urs and Uday Tikekar. Vidya Malavade is strictly average.
Natasa Stankovic is a surprise package and is a treat to watch for her action scenes. Ishaan Khanna is a nicely packaged surprise as well. Chaitanya Sardeshpnde gives an excellent performance as he plays a negative character.
Geeta Agarwal is also fantastic in the character of Sardarni. Loved the authenticity with which her character has been written and the way she has portrayed it.
Danish Aslam has given a superb direction to the show. Flesh successfully makes the audience uncomfortable and that’s his victory as the director.
Flesh Review: Final Verdict
Flesh is a very well crafted show which makes you witness the ugly side of the world. Don’t watch it if you are faint-hearted but do watch if you are not.
