Man Accused in Two Separate Hit-and-Runs Released from Custody

A 63-year-old Jurupa Valley man accused in two separate hit-and-runs in the past year, one causing injuries, was out of custody Thursday after posting a $75,000 bond.

Rosalio Laureano Loera was arrested Sunday on an outstanding felony warrant connected to the first offense, which occurred last November.

Loera is charged with hit-and-run causing injuries and fleeing the scene of a crime. He made his initial court appearance Tuesday at the Riverside Hall of Justice and posted bond Wednesday night.

He is slated to appear before Riverside County Superior Court Judge David Gunn again on Nov. 30 for a status hearing.

On the night of Nov. 15, 2019, Loera allegedly struck two pedestrians near Mission Boulevard and Pedley Avenue, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Torres. Both victims were taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries, and have since recovered.

Loera fled a half-mile away and abandoned the vehicle, leaving his passenger behind, Torres alleged.

Deputies quickly located the sedan and questioned the passenger, who identified Loera, who could not be located, according to the sergeant. Charges were filed over the summer and a warrant issued for his arrest.

Torres said that Loera was involved in another hit-and-run in recent weeks, but no injuries were reported. That case remains under investigation.

Deputies ultimately found him on Alondro Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Loera has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
