Maisie Smith made a huge comeback on tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing, receiving two 10s following two consecutive weeks in the dance-off.

For week six of Strictly, EastEnders star Maisie and her professional dance partner Gorka Márquez performed a Quickstep to When You’re Smiling by Andy Williams.

Following their performance, judges Shirley Ballas and the recently-returned Motsi Mabuse were on their feet, applauding the couple on their impressive routine.

While Craig Revel Horwood remained seated, he also heaped praise on the couple, with just a sprinkle of criticism thrown into his critique.

After two weeks in a row landing in the bottom two, having gone up against singer Max George a fortnight ago and actor Caroline Quentin last week, Maisie was undoubtedly hoping this week’s routine would save her from the dance-off.

If her score is anything to go by, she might have achieved her goal.

After Craig awarded her a nine, Shirley and Motsi excitedly awarded Maisie and Gorka two 10s for their Quickstep.

This marked the first time that Maisie has received a 10 throughout this year’s competition.

Their score also made their routine the highest-scoring Quickstep of the 2020 series.

Several Strictly fans congratulated the pairing on their performance and score.

‘Maisie is incredible! Really pleased she got her first 10s. Hopefully that’ll keep her out of the dance off this week,’ one person said.

‘Maisie was absolutely phenomenal tonight,’ another remarked.

Maisie’s mum, Julia, recently spoke about how her 19-year-old daughter is finding the competition after finding herself in two dance-offs, saying she feels ‘nervous’ and ‘vulnerable’.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday at 7.25pm on BBC One.
