Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne has thrown her support behind fellow drag queen Gottnik who will be the first-ever male transgender contestant to compete in the US series.
Earlier this month RuPaul’s Drag Race revealed that the make-up artist would make show history by being part of the season 13 line-up.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the news, reigning queen The Vivienne said it sends an ‘amazing message’ to other drag queens.
‘It’s such great news because he’s actually a really good friend of mine as well,’ she told us.
‘He did my make-up on my own show in Hollywood, so to see him be cast is just an amazing.’
‘What an amazing message to send,’ The Vivienne added.
The Vivienne, who was crowned the winner of Drag Race UK in 2019, went on to discuss season two and the latest line-up of queens who have just been announced.
‘I’m a massive fan of Drag Race so I think that I’ve got to watch it,’ she continued.
‘I love every time a new season comes around because you get to see drag coming into the mainstream into everyone’s living rooms, whereas 12 years ago that wasn’t a thing so you know we just count ourselves lucky.
‘It’s so exciting to see what the new queens bring to the show and if someone wants to come from my crown, then let them.’
The 28-year-old, whose name is James Lee Williams, has been inundated with offers since winning Drag Race, and in her latest project she has teamed up with Argos.
The Vivienne and social media star Blu Hydrangea will be hosting a number of virtual classes ahead of Christmas, so people can learn how to get glammed up for December 25.
The drag queens will be chatting with members of the public on how to create fabulous hairstyles as well as talking about their beauty routines.
Speaking about the masterclasses, The Vivienne explained: ‘Everything’s been kind of zoom base (throughout lockdown) and all you’ve been able to do is whack a brush through your hair and make sure you’ve got a nice shirt on, even though you’re wearing pyjama bottoms.
‘Now you know Christmas is coming around what a perfect excuse to kind of glam up.’
‘Argos sell amazing tools, from Remington to Babyliss and Cloud Nine, so we will be teaching people how to do different looks with the tools,’ she added.
‘I think the pandemic has affected everyone and even though we might not be feeling our best, we can still look our best.’
The classes will take place on Wednesday December 23 and are bookable here.
