Ellen DeGeneres shared her support after Elliot Page came out as transgender.
The Umbrella Academy star shared a heartfelt statement on social media on Tuesday, confirming his pronouns are he/they, with fans and famous faces rushing to praise the words.
Following the post, the Ellen Show host took to Twitter to pen a touching post to the ‘inspirational’ 33-year-old.
‘Sending love to my friend, @TheElliotPage,’ she simply wrote.
‘You inspire me with your strength, courage and honesty.’
Elliot announced they are transgender in a lengthy message, which read: ‘I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along the journey.
‘I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.’
Slamming the political leaders who are ‘criminalising trans health care and denying our right to exist’, the actor continued: ‘I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer.
‘And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.
‘To all trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.’
Miley Cyrus led support from celebrities over the Juno favourite’s post, writing: ‘Elliot rules,’ with a string of heart emoji.
Elliot’s wife, Emma Portner, proudly shared on her own page: ‘I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world.
‘I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day.
‘Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.’
Umbrella Academy stars also shared their love, with Tom Hopper writing: ‘Elliot, I’m so proud of you and even prouder to call you family. All the love.’
