A man who organised a house party in London when the capital was under tier three restrictions now faces a £10,000 fine.
Police shut down the party in a flat in Kensington and Chelsea which was attended by more than 30 people on December 17.
They were alerted to what was happening after reports of loud music coming from the property at Cadogan Gardens.
Officers released bodycam footage showing how they broke up the party.
Police said that they made their way inside and could hear music and people shouting as they got closer.
The door was slightly open. The officers went inside to find more than 30 people in the address drinking, eating and playing music.
All those who did not live at the address were told to go home. One man in the flat made himself known to police as the organiser of the party and now faces a fine.
It came two days before the city was plunged into an even stricter lockdown, at tier four with all household mixing banned indoors apart from exceptions such as for those with caring responsibilities.
PC James Berridge-Cane from the Met’s Central West BCU, said: ‘I am astounded that people are putting themselves, their families and their friends at risks by hosting flat parties and possibly spreading this virus.
‘This is a critical time for London. Our infection rate is sadly on the rise and we all need to pull together to drive down the rate of infection and protect our families and the NHS.’
