The relationships of the celebrities who sign up to Strictly Come Dancing come under the microscope the second they sashay into the ballroom, and Adam Peaty’s is no different.
The Olympian has been forced to call out trolls questioning his relationship with girlfriend Eirianedd Munro, after the art graduate was inundated with cruel comments.
Adam, 26, has been paired with Katya Jones on the show, and their chemistry on the dancefloor left viewers suspecting something was going on – particularly after they appeared to nearly kiss at the end of their Argentine tango.
However, the swimmer has dashed the rumours, and he and Eiri, 23, are going strong.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘To everyone who sees what they want to see, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be lowered or overcome by your gossip. Protect your energy.’
Who is Adam Peaty’s girlfriend?
Eirianedd Munro, or Eiri, is a 23-year-old artist from Wales, who met while Adam was training at Loughborough University.
She was studying for a BA in fine art at the university.
The couple didn’t meet in class, though, but on the dating app Tinder in early 2020.
Are Adam Peaty and Eirianedd Munro married?
The couple are not married, and have been together for nearly two years.
Do they have any kids?
Adam and Eiri are parents to one-year-old son George-Anderson Adetola Peaty, who celebrated his first birthday in September.
Eiri confirmed she was pregnant in April 2020, writing on Instagram: ‘Both Adam and I entered 2020 knowing it had the potential to be the biggest and happiest year of our lives. Years of hard work was due to pay off with me, graduating from university and Adam, competing in his second Olympics. The year looked bright and golden.
‘And then came the corona virus. Whilst our goals weren’t taken, they were propelled somewhere into the future, leaving our year looking rather empty in comparison to how it had looked just a few months ago.
‘Yet the year still promises to be the biggest and happiest year of our lives, just in ways neither of us had planned or expected. It also promises to be the hardest, messiest and craziest so far. It’ll be filled with tears and laughter and sleepless nights and dirty nappies. A lot of dirty nappies.
‘In these moments of difficulty and sadness, we are grateful for our health, for each other and a little jelly bean that has kept us happy and hopeful despite everything.’
Eiri became pregnant just two years into their relationship, and Adam admitted that it was not planned.
He told The Times: ‘I got the call in Australia, with her crying. I was like, “OK, this is going to change my life forever.”’
Both Adam and Eiri often share pictures of George to social media.
