A pensioner has been found dead in a pond in West London during the Easter bank holiday.
Officers were called to Cannizaro Park, in Wimbledon, on Monday morning after a body was seen in the water.
They recovered the victim’s body from the pond and CPR was given, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the man is understood to be in his 70s and his next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called at 9.19am today (Monday, April 12) to Cannizaro Park after a body was seen in a pond.
Officers attended with London Ambulance Service.
‘CPR was administered but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘Officers believe they know the man’s identity and have informed next of kin.
‘Enquiries into the circumstances continue but at this stage the incident is not being treated as suspicious.’
