JK Rowling has reportedly secretly bought her childhood house that inspired parts of the Harry Potter series.
The author lived in Church Cottage in Tutshill, Gloustershire between the ages of nine and 18, and bought it way back in 2011, when it went back on the market.
She paid about £400,000 for the house, according to the BBC, with Land Registry records showing that Edinburgh-based Caernarfon Lettings Ltd bought the house.
Joanne’s husband, Neil Murray, is listed as a director for the company.
The cottage and village are thought to have inspired parts of Harry Potter, including having a minor shout-out with the naming of the Tutshill Tornadoes quidditch team.
Joanne is also said to have taken elements of the cottage as inspiration for the Dursleys’ house, where Harry lives in the series.
On one wall, she also wrote the words: ‘Joanne Rowling slept here circa 1982,’ so you can be sure the house is pretty special to her.
BBC producer Julian Mercer previously owned the house.
Joanne recently announced she had finished her next crime novel, which she has titled Cormoran Strike.
The Harry Potter author shared the finished draft to her fans on Twitter and it looks like a fantastically long read, with fans eager to read the writer’s next offering.
She tweeted: ‘Finished #Galbraith5 #Strike’ along with a party popper emoji.
The 54-year-old has been writing crime fiction under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and novels include The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm, Career of Evil and Lethal White.
The first in the series follows the life of private investigator Cormoran Strike, who unravels the supposed suicide of a supermodel.
Meanwhile, Joanne has been recovering after experiencing coronavirus symptoms amid the pandemic.
Responding to the well wishes from her followers, the writer said she was ‘completely recovered’.
She wrote: ‘Please watch this doc from Queens Hospital explain how to relieve respiratory symptoms. For last 2 weeks I’ve had all symptoms of C19 (tho haven’t been tested) & did this on doc husband’s advice. I’m fully recovered & technique helped a lot.
‘Thank you for your kind and lovely messages! I really am completely recovered and wanted to share a technique that’s recommended by doctors, costs nothing, has no nasty side effects but could help you/your loved ones a lot, as it did me. Stay safe, everyone x’
