Man Suffers Traumatic Injury While Handling Chainsaw in Mead Valley

A man suffered a serious injury to one of his arms while operating a chainsaw at a Mead Valley residence Thursday.

The incident was reported about 11:55 a.m. in the 22500 block of Markham Street, near Decker Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

An engine crew reached the location within a few minutes and found the victim, whose name was not released, suffering from a traumatic injury to his lower left arm, according to reports from the scene.

Firefighters applied emergency treatment, and an ambulance was summoned. However, the man’s family apparently did not want to wait and instead took him by car to the nearest medical facility, a battalion chief said.

There was no word on what the victim was doing with the chainsaw, or exactly how the wound was inflicted.
